When I was in high school, Swatch watches were the “in” watches that time. I had two my dad bought for me. What made those watches even more interesting to the market back then were the endorsers. Alvin Patrimonio (then Philippine basketball’s most valuable player), Mikee Cojuangco (equestrienne and actress) and Geneva Cruz (then tinseltown’s teen sensation) were some of the local celebrity endorsers of this famous watch brand. Remember them?

This series is what’s eating my time in the morning. My 11am to 12 nn to be precise. Little People, Big World at Discovery Channel Home and Health. I know the Roloffs now. Matt, Amy, Jeremy and Zach, Molly and Jacob. I spend my mornings with them. And I love the series! It is a peep into the lives of a family headed by little people. I will write more about the Roloff family in my next posts.

Now is the time of the year that I need to check on the things that needed renewing for the coming months. You know, to save for the funds needed. I will be getting new insurance quotes this coming week. I am not satisfied with the ones we had before. I will also be scheduling some repairs and maintenance of the house. And some general cleaning, too! So TCP will probably have an erratic posting schedule this coming week. But I will be here, fear not.

Last Sunday, my family had a get-together party, a post-Christmas celebration. There was a lot of eating, catching up and of course, singing! I tell you, my people are crazy about singing. My aunts were falling in line to have their shot at songs they chose. One aunt of mine even sang It Might Be You. The other one sang Dancing Queen. Of course, all the girls sang I Will Survive. It was so fun and hilarious! All the while they were singing, I kept thinking of industrial knobs, I don’t know why *lol

I still love him! <3

The tech expert in my life has gone ahead and left the country for a couple of months to try his luck elsewhere. Before he packed his bags and left, I asked his help getting a bigger notebook memory, just to be sure that I have enough to last me until he comes back. I am sometimes paranoid and I am scared of losing files. Thus, my need for a bigger memory. I just hope nothing bad happens while he’s out of the country.

The Couch Potato just might be packing her luggage soon and will be traveling somewhere… I am crossing my fingers right now that it will happen by the middle of 2009. Hopefully. It will be for a better future not just for TCP but also for everyone in her family. Of course, I will not be leaving blogging. Far from it. Wherever I go, blogging will always be a part of my life. Therapy, you know.

I was reading this entertainment news about Rob Pattinson (who else!) when a term life insurance quotes online caught my attention. I remembered one of my New Year’s resolution… to make sure that me, my dad and my younger brother would all have a life insurance each. Life is so uncertain and something bad could happen to anyone, even to me who is a couch potato and can be found sitting on her couch almost all the time. So a life insurance is a must.

Will it still be Taylor Lautner? Reports are surfacing that the role of Jacob Black is still up for grabs to whoever will be good looking enough to play the role. New Moon, the sequel to the monster movie hit Twilight, is focused more on the friendship that developed between Jacob Black and Bella Swan (to be reprised by Kristen Stewart). And Jacob in New Moon will grow by leaps and bounds more so when he starts becoming a werewolf. Taylor’s camp is releasing reports to the media that the 16-year-old actor has gained 19 lbs. since the end of filming of Twilight and will be gaining even more before the shoot of New Moon.

Personally, I feel a more mature actor should play the role. In the book, Jacob Black is taller than Edward Cullen and has started shooting up to 6 feet tall. In reality, Taylor is shorter than Rob Pattinson who plays (and will continue playing) Edward Cullen. If and when Taylor reprises the role of Jacob Black, I wonder how they will make it look that he’s a six footer.

I can’t express enough my disgust with this news. I mean, come on! Do we really want to embarass ourselves this way??? Getting the rights to remake the Twilight series in Tagalog???

Apparently, ABS CBN, one of the media giants here in the Philippines, had this brilliant idea (read: STUPID!) of buying the rights of Twilight from Ignite Media for more than $1 million. They can’t even remake local movies and series right and they would like to attempt something this big. WTF?!?!?!?

The local version of Twilight will be entitled Takipsilim (duh!) and it will star Rayver Cruz as Edward Cullen and Shaina Magdayao as Bella Swan. You know, when I read about this, I almost rolled on the floor laughing. Literally. What are they thinking??? And look at the poster for the series…

If you are a Filipino like me and you are also a die hard Twilight fan who also happens to be head over heels over Rob Pattinson, Rayver will come across as a joke to you! And Shaina as Bella? My disgust is a separate entity that you can see beside me right now!

And wait till you hear/read who will play in the supporting cast…

Twilighters across the internet are up in arms over this news and they (that includes ME!) want this series stopped. Stephenie Meyer doesn’t come across as stupid or anything but WTF was she thinking letting this kind of thing happen? I guess the rights to Twilight is no longer with her but I do believe she can stop this one from happening.

Paging Stephenie Meyer! Please stop ABS CBN from airing Takipsilim!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like mellow music. That’s why I listen to Yahoo Launchcast’s Smooth Jazz station. One of my fave smooth music is Raincoat by Kelly Sweet. I hope everyone have a great Monday listening to it.

Oh yeah, I woke up yesterday morning with a scratchy throat and now I have a full-blown cold. Sigh. My head is aching and I can feel my joints like a very old person. I hate being sick. I don’t get sick easily but due to the weather change…

Lots of fluids and rest for TCP.

My head feels like it is full of mucus. It is aching and my eyes are watery. I can’t think straight actually because of the cold. I will have to rest for a while so I can continue updating this blog as well as my other ones. But before I rest, I have to check the shoulder pain pump that I read somewhere.

I am the type of person who reads about something I have read and does not know. Anyway, maybe rest now and then read about it later.

I don’t really watch that much local shows simply because I cannot stomach some antics done by the local artists. This morning, though, I woke up earlier than usual. I was able to do some posts in my other blogs and I opened the TV to see if Oprah was already on. But guess what I saw?

Boy Abunda dancing ala Ellen in Boy & Kris! WTF?!?@$#$

It was really disgusting to watch! I don’t know what it is with the local shows. They always have to do something an international show does. I mean when you saw the show this morning, you just know the dancing was copied in Ellen. Even Boy Abunda’s moves.

There are great local shows. I will be dedicating several entries for them. But I really do wish we need not copy antics from international shows. What’s the use of having creative people when we only need to copy content right? Shame on you, ABS-CBN!

When you are writing an entertainment blog like this one, you have to have a sharp memory. Every news you have read should be written right away or kept in your head for future reference. What I do is I keep notes. Or I bookmark pages I’ve read. If only I have a memory much like my laptop memory, I won’t be needing notes or bookmarks anymore.

TCP is still sick but I will be updating more within the day.

Whenever I see new photos of Katie Holmes in different entertainment web sites and blogs, she looks wasted! I wonder why. She looks like she’s in dire need of sleep. Just look at the photo below…

Look at those dark circles under her eyes! She needs to relax and start looking after herself. She’s still young, right?

It’s been a decade that we didn’t have a Christmas tree and for the last three years (every Christmas season) we have been planning to buy one. We plan to buy as grand as at least 5ft.-6ft. high christmas tree but lo and behold we never had one. This year as early as June we plan again to buy a Christmas tree, and we promised to buy it this time. It’s only last week that the plan came to life and neither I or my sisters bought the tree, it’s our Dad who bought it. The funny part is the height of the tree, it’s only two feet! From six feet down to two feet – i’ts perfect! I’m not kidding, it’s pretty perfect for me. It’s space saver and not a lot of moolah had been burned. Everytime I look at the tree no matter how small it is, it reminds me that Christmas is just around the corner and the nostalgic feeling slowly creeps on me. I just wish that our Christmas and yours will be as perfect as our little tree. Happy Holidays!
