I haven’t been watching that much these past few days. That’s why you’ve been seeing no updates for several days now. I am reading news, though. Let me give you a run down of what I have read about the local teleseryes so far:
Tayong Dalawa of ABS-CBN starring Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson and Jake Cuenca remains to be the teleserye to beat these days. It premiered last January 19 and reportedly got a 36% ratings. Impressive! I heard that it’s fast paced and that if you miss an episode, you’d feel like you missed a lot.
Eva Fonda, that overly sexed teleserye, will end pretty soon. If I am not mistaken, by next Friday already. It will be replaced with May Bukas Pa. I just noticed based on the teasers that ABS-CBN shows that Cristine Reyes is a far better in acting than her sister, Ara Mina. She shows more emotions than her sister. One thing I can say about the teleserye is that a number of parents will be happy once it’s over. I heard that a lot of parents are complaining about the explicit sexual content of each episode. Oh well, ABS-CBN and GMA-7 will stoop to anything just to sell their shows. Even air shows inappropriate for primetime viewing!
A Marian Rivera-Dingdong Dantes teleserye will be airing by February 2, Monday. Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang. I’m sure it will be full of love scenes because these two can only sell a teleserye if they do each other on air. Wala ka namang mapapala sa kanila other than that.
That Betty La Fea teleserye of Bea Alonzo is waaaaay too corny! You know what? Bea in that series is not ugly. She’s just plain baduy! Get rid of the ridiculous glasses (who still wear those kind anyway??), the braces, make her speak properly and you will have a pretty tisay! She’s prettier than Pops Fernandez who is trying hard to be a contravida in that series.
Regine Velasquez finally realized that her age is totally inappropriate for a guy like Mark Anthony Fernandez. Remember Kim Sam Soon where she played the object of Mark Anthony’s affections? She looked like his aunt, swear! Now, she will be playing Robin Padilla‘s leading lady in Totoy Bato, a soon to be aired teleserye in GMA-7.
So far, that’s the only news I’ve read and been hearing about. I will update you more about the local shows in my new few posts.

I miss the old Avril Lavigne. The one full of angst. The one who sings about Skater Boi. I love her songs before Girlfriend. I love the emo music. The angst in each song… that’s something that I used to fill my head with.

Since I am a couch potato, you can just imagine how much calories I do not burn because I am sitting almost all the time. I watch tv, blog, do some other thing, chat with my cousin abroad, catch up with friends online and so on. I get distracted if I stand up and away from my couch for long periods of time. So instead of exercise, I guess I should just get some diet pills to help me lose weight. Or a week off my couch, perhaps?

Oh yes, Lisa Ono is coming to Manila for a concert!
One of my favorite singers is Lisa Ono. She is a popular Japanese bossa nova singer. Even before those other bossa nova artists came out, she has a separate playlist in my player.
I will post the details here within a day or two. I just heard it a few seconds ago at 106.7 Dream FM.
I watched last night’s American Idol Season 8 2-hour premiere telecast and the second episode today. And here are my thoughts:
I love Simon Cowell‘s facial expressions! And his comments are still the best, even the mean ones! Hahaha
Paula Abdul is still stuttering like a crazy old fool!
Randy Jackson is sooo funny, especially when he’s trying so hard not to laugh.
The new judge, Kara DioGuardi, is trying soooo damn hard. You can tell with her expressions. I don’t like her at all. Paula’s stuttering and senseless comments are still way better than this new one’s trying hard comments.
The Bikini Girl is a cheap act! That includes Ryan Seacrest receiving that kiss from her. Yuck!
And Kara entertaining the cheap taunt from the bikini girl is equally cheap.
Some of those rejects are planted, in my opinion. You know, to make the show a bit more interesting.
I like that one who sang Vanessa Carlton’s A Thousand Miles. She has an amazing voice!
That brother of Jason Castro is waaaay too cocky! He might have a better voice than his brother but his attitude is more hard to stomach.

I switched channels. Wwe are watching TV Patrol in ABS-CBN but then the report was about that icky Pinoy Dream Academy overacting singer-wannabe/winner so I told my sister to change the channel to GMA-7. Mel Tiangco of 24 Oras was interviewing ex-president Joseph Estrada about the passing of his mom, Dona Mary and at one point she asked this overly STUPID question… “Ngayong namatay na ang mama mo, Mr. Estrada, napaiyak ka ba? (Now that your mother passed away, Mr. Estrada, did you shed a tear?)…
Is that a stooooopid question or what??? Your mom died. The one person you consider as your inspiration and strength, the one you are very vocal about the respect you had of her. Did you cry???????
If that is not a ridiculously stupid question, I don’t know what is!

Some people are not afraid to flaunt their bodies. Some come off as vulgar, even talking about private matters like vaginal dryness and all that. Some come off as funny.
One of the local actresses here, Rufa Mae Quinto, always dresses as if she was short on budget that’s why her dress is so tiny. Her breasts are always spilling over her top. Her legs are exposed all the time. I feel like she’s an exhibitionist already. I mean, you don’t see her in any clothes except those that exposes her body. She doesn’t leave anything to the imagination anymore. And she looks cheap most of the time.

ABS-CBN announces its newest teleserye that will premiere on January 19. Tayong Dalawa. It stars the hottest love team of the giant tv network, Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson. Jake Cuenca completes the love triangle. The story revolves around the life of two step brothers (Anderson and Jake Cuenca) who are in love with the same woman (Chiu). Quite the normal fare when it comes to local love stories but I have seen the extended trailer and it shows promise. I just hope it will not end up as dragging as the My Girl local version that Kim and Gerald did.
Among the powerhouse cast are Miguel Faustman, Spanky Manikan, Cherry Pie Picache, Gina Pareño, Helen Gamboa, Agot Isidro, Mylene Dizon, Ricky Davao, Alessandra de Rossi, Jiro Manio, Coco Martin, Baron Geisler, and Anita Linda. The tv series is handled by respected television director Ruel Bayani.
I will watch the pilot episode and if it captures my interest, I will follow the series.
Something weird happened early this morning. Guess what it is? I lost my PageRank! I just got it a few days ago, was happy in fact even if I only got a 1, but then when I checked it this morning, it’s gone already! Kaput. Just like that!
Funny. How that happened in just a few days, I really don’t know.
I haven’t seen any Metro Manila Film Festival 2008 entry. I want to watch Ang Tanging Ina Niyong Lahat but no one wants to go see it with me. I might see it by my lonesome next week. My friend wants to see Baler. But I really don’t like Jericho Rosales at all. With his pa-American accent that’s grating on my nerves… never mind! I will just ask my friend to make a review of the movie that I will post here.
I have read mixed reviews on the entries. What is sad is that Dayo, which is an animated film, was reportedly pulled out of cinemas showing it because of very poor box office returns. Iskul Bukol the Reunion is competing with Ang Tanging Ina Niyong Lahat for the number 1 spot.
What I find funny with this annual MMFF is that there is always a Shake, Rattle and Roll in the entries. I think we’re on 10th now. Hahaha… I wonder until how many Regal Films can produce.

Jett Travolta, son of Hollywood A-List actor, John Travolta, died after apparently hitting his head on the bathtub and suffering from a seizure. The 16-year-old had a history of seizures. It is not yet sure if the seizures were brought on by his Kawasaki disease.
The whole family, including John’s wife, Kelly Preston, and 8-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu, were vacationing at their home in the Old Bahama Bay resort community. The whole community are in shock over what happened.
This is really so sad. Let’s pray their whole family will be strong enough to handle what happened.
