Dishing out life through the couch she is sitting on.

Hypochondriac

I am a bit hypochondriac. A bit. Is there a thing? I worry about getting sick. I guess when you lost someone you love, you get to be this way. Not all the time, though. There are just instances when I would think I might get sick or something. The same goes for every member of my family. I worry about them getting sick and losing them in the process. Being a couch potato can probably make you crazy as I am. I am thinking of a colon cleanser me, my dad and my sister. I will tell you more when I get to talk to our family doctor.

Hayden Cam scandal

Two articles about the ongoing brouhaha that is called “Hayden Cam” sex video scandal. Loved both messages of the articles. One serious, the other sarcastic.

Here are the links and I hope you read them…

Those sex videos and us by Jim Paredes

To quote some of the things I like in the article by Jim Paredes…

Social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Multiply and others seem to have created a generation of low-level narcissists, exhibitionists and voyeurs…

The Internet has become our cyber body, mind and nervous system. Everyone is now part of everyone else. And this Internet “mind” we all share, just like the human mind described by Freud and Jung, harbors both our good and bad sides and everything in between. Thus, it broadcasts our activities that are for public consumption and also, when you analyze it, the shadows that live within us.

If it is acceptable to post almost everything in our lives on the Net, then why is it a surprise that our sex lives are suddenly included as well? In no way do I mean that posting anything that violates a person’s privacy is correct or even understandable. But sadly, I think there is a perverse inevitability to it.

Instead of getting lost in this demeaning circus that tempts us to trivialize and even laugh at other people’s suffering, we may want to retain our humanity and spare its victims the inhumanity of all this by simply refusing to watch those blasted sex videos.

AMEN.

Why Sarah Geronimo is a better youth role model than Hayden Kho, Jr. by Wilson Lee Flores

My fave quote in Wilson Lee Flores’s article…

Unlike the now controversial mother of Hayden, the Spanish mestiza Irene de la Santa Kho, who went ballistic on national TV to blame Katrina Halili, Senator Bong Revilla and Ang Pilipino Star Ngayon columnist Lolit Solis, the parents of Sarah Geronimo former PLDT lineman Delfin Geronimo and wife Divina are paragons of humility, moral rectitude, discipline and emotional balance.

When I inquired how she and her husband brought up Sarah to become a level-headed and good young lady, someone admired as much for her talent as well as her positive persona, Divina Geronimo replied: “We only taught our daughter two things: obey God’s teachings and your parents, then all will be okay.”

Classic!

And by the way, I am a huge fan of Sarah Geronimo. Eversince I watched those movies with John Lloyd Cruz and reading several pages of a magazine article about her. Such a humble kid with so much respect for her parents.

King of Indie Films

cocomartin
Coco Martin aka Ramon of Tayong Dalawa

He’s my friend’s current crush. Coco Martin. The current toast of town. He appeared in 14 indie movies in the span of 3 years. Have done almost everything in these indie movies: kissed a guy and bared his skin in Masahista, Daybreak and Condo. He’s graced the Cannes International Film Festival for 2 consecutive years. He has met Sean Penn, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Quentin Tarantino in these stints. Wow!

Right now, though, he is more popularly known as Ramon, the bad guy in the local teleserye Tayong Dalawa. Thanks to this teleserye from ABS-CBN, Coco has gone mainstream. Before this teleserye, I can only remember him as the alleged father of a sexy star’s kid. See what a teleserye can do to a lesser known star? It can really catapult him to stardom! And it did to Coco!

Coco deserves every minute of fame he is experiencing right now. He’s really a superb actor! I bet after Tayong Dalawa, he will be given another teleserye, or a Star Cinema movie.

Photo with Wolverine

This is a breath of fresh air!

We always hear how big stars would snub their fans when there’s nothing to promote or without the cameras rolling. A Filipina, dining in an upscale restaurant in New York City with her husband, saw Hugh Jackman enter the establishment. Excited to see Wolverine in person, she approached him and introduced herself.

hughjackman

“Hi, Hugh! I am Edith from the Philippines. I am a big fan of yours, I love all your movies, can I have a picture with you?”

The 6’2”-tall actor replied with a big smile, “Hi Edith, how are you? Sure, come.”

There’s a photo accompanying this article that I read in Ricky Lo’s Philstar.com column. Go check it out! It is said to be the envy of Edith’s friends these days hehe

Hugh Jackman is not only the sexiest man alive. He is also one of the most approachable big stars there is right now :)

Robert Pattinson, shirtless, in a scene for the upcoming movie, New Moon. This is the scene where he thought Bella’s dead and is contemplating exposing himself so that the Volturi will be forced to kill him.

Yummy!!!

Katorse

katorse

I don’t know what ABS-CBN is playing at with the network playing teasers of the soon to be airing that Katorse series starring that Erich Gonzales. I bet there will be a rise in the number of teen pregnancies while that series is airing. Teens are so into teleseryes and tv dramas these days. Proof of that is the popularity of Koreanovelas and tv series starring teen stars like Tayong Dalawa, Kambal sa Uma, Lipgloss and so on.

Katorse is a movie that was directed by Joey Gosiengfiao that starred Dina Bonnevie and Gabby Concepcion. ABS-CBN’s Your Song will be featuring a remake of the ’80s movie in all Sundays of June starring Erich, Ejay Falcon and Xian Lim.

To summarize the story: it is about a teenage girl, getting pregnant and giving birth to a baby at the age of fourteen, thus the movie’s title. Imagine airing this series on Sundays, when all the teens are normally at home, watching teen-oriented shows. And Your Song is such.

Kids are impressionable. For those who won’t be watching the series in its entirety, this might come across as an affirmation to them that getting pregnant at the age of 14 is fine. Anyway, it’s part of life and there is some sort of salvation in the end. I hate series like this because not all parents can be there with their teens to explain to them what’s right and wrong. Teens normally watch tv on their own. They might get the wrong idea. Sure, kids these days are more intelligent. But remember that media is more brutal now. And there’s peer pressure. And social networking. And so many evil in society that wasn’t there before.

I just hope Katorse won’t start a new trend among teens here in the country. Teenage pregnancy is a very sensitive topic that should be handled with care. Not exploited like this.

Couch experience

Anything to make my couch experience more comfortable I am interested in. That’s for sure! Whenever I check online, I go to Buy.com to check on what’s new and the hot deals they have. I am currently eyeing a flat panel mount for better viewing experience for me. Okay, I admit I am a lazy girl. If there are things around the house that can make me more comfortable and not disturb my concentration, from watching most of the time hehe, then I grab it and keep it for myself.
