This is by far the most anti-climactic announcement we have ever been made to endure with… Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie‘s engagement! Duh!

Well they already have a litter of kids, both adopted and biological, I would like to think they are thinking of raising them together and that would mean being together for a lifetime!

These two are such arrogant people that they expect every one to feel excited over uninteresting things happening to them. You know what Brad and Angie? Better take care of that litter of kids and stop with the media whoring!

People are going gaga over that new Magnum ice cream. I know people who have tasted it already and it’s nothing over the top according to them. It’s a simple ice cream on stick with the Belgian chocolate making it a bit delicious. One of my friends even said that she prefers Cornetto over Magnum, especially with the price difference! Same taste, according to her. And I do believe her as I also think a Selecta Roast Almond drumstick tastes way better than it!

I think it’s the hype caused by the celebrities tweeting about their Magnum “experience”. They helped the endorsers of the ice cream spread the word and, well, fans sucked it up!

I just hate how some people feel like eating Magnum is the height of being “in”! Spending 50 pesos on an ice cream on stick that is nothing special… that’s totally ridiculous!

So I was reading the Philippine Star a few minutes ago and saw an article about a mysterious girl with Richard Gutierrez in Cebu. It turned out that the girl was not really so mysterious after all!

Her name is Girlie Benitez. I searched for her on the net and I found out that she’s a ramp model. She’s been spotted with Richard on several occasions and I do believe he is not hiding her and their relationship from the public, just like he didn’t hide his relationships with the other women he’s been with. But I think he is the type of man who would rather keep his relationships private and that’s the reason why he isn’t talking about any of the women being linked to him.

So the President of the Philippines Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III or simply called PNoy by Filipinos is dating Korean GMA-7 TV host Grace Lee. That’s fine. The woman is obviously smart and pretty and articulate. It wouldn’t have been a big deal as the president is a bachelor and Grace is single. Nothing wrong with that. The president deserves a love life.

But to actually flaunt it to every single Filipino with a television or newspaper subscription by entertaining media people’s interviews about it…

Grace Lee now has a negative impact on majority of Filipinos. You know why? It seems to us that she’s enjoying the attention she’s getting out of the relationship! My suggestion is for her to tone down the gushing and decline the interview offers!

Weekend was really hectic for me. I was not able to go online that much so I relied on my sister for news on the net. She told me before going out yesterday that Whitney Houston was already dead. You know what? I wasn’t surprised anymore! It’s bound to happen anytime soon, I thought. She’s been abusing herself doing drugs and what-not. She’s been doing drugs for years and no matter what kind of intervention done to her, she just couldn’t stay away from drugs.

Dead at 48. Can you imagine the life she wasted? So many people in Twitter and Facebook and other social networking sites were posting updates on how much they were shocked over what happened. They were saddened. Do you know what my real reaction is? Not surprised anymore. Not shocked at all. And I wasn’t saddened over what happened but was actually angry over a life wasted. She was given so much blessings in life. A great voice. A beautiful face. Fame and fortune. A beautiful daughter. Sure, her marriage sucked! But hey, there were other fishes in the ocean and she could have divorced that worthless husband of hers and moved on. She didn’t. She opted to stay with him and embraced a life filled with drugs and booze and looked where it led her?

A friend of mine said that it was really her husband who was to blame over what happened to her. My reaction: whatever happens to us is the result of a choice we made. At the end of the day, Whitney Houston chose to do drugs at her hotel room and it killed her.

She could have been another music legend like Aretha Franklin. Tsk. Tsk.

Another life taken by prohibited drugs. Amy Winehouse, then her. Who’s next?

My guess? Lindsay Lohan!

It’s one of the most anticipated romantic movies before Valentine’s Day and I am sure it will be a huge hit considering how many people are talking about it right now.

What the hell TV5 big boss Manny V. Pangilinan was thinking???

There is a breaking news on the net today that Sharon Cuneta managed to bag a 1B-peso deal with TV5! The deal supposedly includes a talk show ala-Oprah. Whatever that deal includes I don’t think Sharon is still worth that much money. Consider the ratings of her recent TV shows in ABS-CBN. Can we all say flop queen?!? Even the interesting Pinoy edition of The Biggest Loser didn’t rate that much because people were talking about how she hosted the show and she was the one who didn’t even lose weight!

And for TV5 to give her that much for a contract with them? I don’t think Sharon is even worth 50M pesos anymore! Her popularity has waned over the past couple of years. She even is no longer the endorsement queen as Kris Aquino is apparently more credible than her. And John Lloyd Cruz for that matter.

Whether the scoop by Ricky Lo is true or false, the fact remains that Sharon Cuneta is no longer the megastar that she was. Her star is no longer as shiny as it used to and let’s face it, she’s LAOS na!

Sara Leal. That’s the name of the alleged mistress of Ashton Kutcher, married for 6 years to actress Demi Moore. The photo of the woman was finally revealed for everyone to see. Photos of the woman inside Ashton’s car and the two of them going out of a bar on his and Demi’s wedding anniversary surfaced. According to reports, both Ashton and Demi have been posting cryptic tweets purportedly pertaining to their marriage and each other.

Hey, if it’s broken, it’s broken. I think it’s bound to happen one of these days considering Ashton is almost as young as Demi’s eldest daughter Rumer!

She will be wearing a Vera Wang wedding gown and her sisters Khloe, Kourtney, Kylie and Kendall (Jenner) are all participating in the wedding as part of the bridal entourage. It will really be one big affair that a lot of people are waiting for.

But cynics are asking… do you think Kim and Kris’ marriage will last?

April Boy Regino was one of this generation’s juke box kings. He produced a string of hit songs that include Di Ko Kayang Tanggapin, Honey My Love So Sweet, among others. He left the country in the peak of his career for a quiet life with his family in the US. It’s been years and now he’s on the news again.

He was reportedly diagnosed with prostate cancer back in 2009!

April Boy was interviewed by the two giant networks and he confirmed the news. He was indeed diagnosed to have cancer but according to him, thanks to herbal medicine, he is now cured of his cancer.

I am not a fan of the guy. In fact, I am not a fan of novelty songs. But when I hear of someone being diagnosed with cancer and the family is shown I can’t help but react.

Here’s wishing the guy is really cured of his cancer already

People are talking about this reported closing of the Calayan Clinic in West Hollywood. Report says that an undercover investigator posed as a patient and caught a staff of the clinic diagnosing a medical condition and performing laser treatments. In the US, practicing a medical procedure requires a license, unlike here in the Philippines that as long as some have the necessary training, they can already perform some procedures with the supervision of a licensed medical professional (who can be in the same room or in another room on standby). The Calayan Clinic is owned by cosmetic surgeons Manny and Pie Calayan. They are known cosmetic surgeons of some celebrities here in the country.

The surveillance done by the Medical Board of California was the result of complaints filed by some patients who got injured by their laser treatments. The clinic was located in Los Angeles before it was moved to West Hollywood. The matter is now in the hands of the LA Country District Attorney’s Office.

It was in the news last night. Actress Maricel Soriano is facing complaints filed against her by her two househelp. According to reports, the househelp went to Isumbong Mo Kay Tulfo and asked for help regarding their plight. Maricel reportedly hurt them and are not paying their salaries.

Of course this is big news considering Maricel is a prime actress here in the country. And to hear that she maltreated her househelp when everyone knows that she already turned from being mataray to a mellowed Bible-loving person…

There was an issue in the recent past that she was confined in the basement of the Makati Medical Center. The basement is a place for mentally unstable patients of the hospital. Of course, that wasn’t confirmed as with most reports of celebrities being confined there. Who would want to know that a person is mentally unstable, right?

Here’s hoping the case will be settled soon. And this is a reminder for everyone to treat their househelp properly!

Taylor Momsen, the 17-year-old Pretty Reckless frontwoman and that emo girl from Gossip Girl, flashed her bare breasts by lifting her shirt during a performance at the Download Festival in Castle Donington, England. Oh yes, there’s a little ‘modesty’ left in this girl’s body because she didn’t expose her nipples but instead covered it up with several strips of black electrical tape.

Her reason for flashing? She’s an extremist when it comes to fashion!

This girl will do anything to create a controversy and prolong her 15-minute of fame!

A stand up comedienne known as Ethel Booba allegedly set fire to her condo unit when she learned that her Norwegian boyfriend was actually gay. She was reportedly drunk and wildly cursing everyone when the security guard(s?) reached her unit. There was already smoke coming from a room so they forced their way in.

She’s been known to do crazy things in the name of love. So I don’t think this one came as a big surprise when it was shown on the evening news. She has a history of erratic behavior even when happy with a guy.

I don’t know why Lindsay Lohan is throwing away her youth. She’s got talent and beauty. Sure, she may be surrounded by bad people with intentions of using her but I would like to think that she has enough brains to still stand up for herself and distinguish right from wrong.

I think it’s the Hollywood culture of being a rebel is cool. I think that’s it. She came from a broken family and her mom is her enabler. She has enough reasons to become a rebel. But come on! I would like to believe that regardless of the circumstances in our lives, we are still left to choose the path we want to take. Good or bad? Right or wrong? It’s still up to each one of us! We are given a free will. I say use it wisely! In Lindsay’s case, I’d like to think that the choice was made for her.

What’s the point of this entry? The necklace. The one she stole. Someone should be able to notice that the girl is spiraling out of control! She craves attention and she feels she can only get it if she does something wrong. Her mother, or someone who still cares for her, should do something about her situation. NOW! Or she could end up a Hollywood culture casualty like so many others before her.

I am reading right now the issue between Alfonso Martinez, Albert and Liezl Martinez’s son, and Wenn Deramas, TV and movie director. The issue stemmed from a tweet of Alfonso that went like this…

“I am sorry, but how the fcuk can a shallow, stupid and over milked movie win best director? Apparently to the magical MMFF grading system, the pinacle of Philippine cinema is a brainless, rehashed, slapstick movie that would be the laughing stock of any filmfest outside the Philippines, OH WAIT! I guess the movie is successful afterall!” – @fonzmartinez

He was referring to the Best Director award that Deramas got for his movie Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last Na ‘To!) which starred Ai-Ai delas Alas. The movie also won for Ai-Ai a Best Actress plum. Alfonso’s attack came from the fact that Albert didn’t even get a nomination for his period movie Rosario, which was purportedly the bet of most people to get top plums in the MMFF Awards night. Even the main star of the movie, Jennilyn Mercado, wasn’t nominated in the Best Actress category.

Alfonso had a point but his emotions got the better of him. Just consider this: Rosario was graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board. The movie got the 3rd best film in the MMFF Awards. If the movie got the top grade from the CEB and got 3rd best film, it just meant that the movie was good. How come the one who helmed it got snubbed in the Best Director race and the actress who gave life to Rosario snubbed as well? Baffles the mind, right? I believe that’s Alfonso’s point. His mistake was ranting about it and lashing out at the director who won over his dad and the movie Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last Na ‘To!).

Now, Deramas is the older one. He should know better than to react to a younger one’s tweet. He also won and in my opinion should just have been humble enough to ignore that tweet and move on. Anyway, he had the last laugh. The kid got bombarded with nasty comments left and right. But he answered Alfonso’s tweet on Facebook which went like this…

“Pagkatapos kong mabasa kanina ung tweet ng anak ni albert martinez, sinabi ko sa sarili ko na Pag aaralin ko ng husay ang mga anak ko sa paaralang Itinuturo ang PAGTANGGAP NG MALUWAG SA DIBDIB KAPAG NATATALO!!!”

Deramas should have kept his mouth shut and just thanked the Lord for the blessings that came his way last December. There is no need to lash out at the kid because he should have known it was spoken at the heat of the moment. In short, asar talo kasi sila! Ano ba!

Liezl was said to have apologized to Deramas already and Alfonso deleted his tweet first and apparently already closed his Twitter account now.

Filipinos are making names in different fields right now. I wasn’t aware of this guy until I read the article in Philstar.com a few weeks ago. Chris Garcia is a well-known tattoo artist to the stars. He was known to have inked Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus, Boys Like Girls and Brandon Vera. He also tattooed Manny Pacquiao‘s team when he was at the Wild Card Gym in LA for his bout with Clottey. He currently works for Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington, owner of Club Tattoo.
