The Cabin in the Woods

The Cabin in the Woods

Another scary movie to look forward to!

The Cabin in the Woods starring Chris Hemsworth and some others I am not familiar with. Any scary movie that isn’t too corny or cheesy is something I would like to see. The poster of this one alone is enough for me to become interested in it.

Do you know this movie? And are you catching it this weekend?

I think I will see it on Saturday with my sisters!

;)

Hot Jennifer!

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence is so darn gorgeous! Hers is the type of beauty that grows in you. You look at her the first time and her beauty won’t register right away. You look at her a second time and you will be surprised that you are looking at a really lovely woman!

She is really the best choice to play Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games. I am glad she was the one chosen!

The Bourne Legacy official poster

The Bourne Legacy

That’s the official movie poster of The Bourne Legacy. Yes, that movie that is being shot here in Manila with Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, and Edward Norton. It’s not the same as that of the Matt Damon-Bourne series anymore but a different story.

I saw a trailer of this movie in a friend’s Facebook update. Sadly, not a part of Manila was shown. I hope they will paint a good picture of Manila despite the squalor that they will surely show in the movie.

Disappointing romantic (?) movie!

So my sister watched The Vow and was disappointed with the movie. It was marketed as a romantic movie but the truth is that it’s not!

Rachel McAdams‘ character was annoying. The evidences are in front of you that you are married to this wonderful man (Channing Tatum) and you couldn’t make up your mind about it?!? Come on! And then to ruin your ex-boyfriend’s (Scott Speedman) life twice???

I guess I’m just expecting to hear how romantic the movie was. How there were so many kilig moments in it. But I heard from friends that aside from the fact that both Channing and Scott were eye candies, the movie actually is just a reinforcement of the fact that women are fickle-minded and that at the end of the day we go back to our families who are there to support us no matter what happens.

The Vow

This is going viral…

the vow

The Vow is a movie starring Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams. It’s about a man whose wife had an accident and went into coma but upon waking up couldn’t remember him anymore. The man will do anything to save everything they had.

It’s one of the most anticipated romantic movies before Valentine’s Day and I am sure it will be a huge hit considering how many people are talking about it right now.

Can’t wait to watch it!

;)

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

the-girl-with-the-dragon-tattoo

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is now open in theaters here in the country. It has an R18 rating without cuts so it won’t be shown in any SM Cinemas. Good thing there’s Trinoma in front of the SM North Edsa so I can watch the movie there.

I must admit I haven’t read the books yet. I want to but there’s always a new book stealing my attention away from it. But this week, as soon as I finish pending work, I will read at least book 1 before I watch the movie on Saturday.

Gerald Anderson’s body

Gerald Anderson

Have you seen it in Catch Me I’m In Love? My goodness! When did that boy grow up?!? We’ve seen him in Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition. We’ve seen him in ABS-CBN teleseryes. But when I saw him in that movie… I drooled!

I felt like a cougar looking at that young man’s body! My oh my! I am sure he worked so hard in getting those muscles. He worked so hard to get those abs! The young man’s body is to die for!

Alright enough already! I feel like a matrona writing this entry! Hahaha!

Tweet-Facebook fight!

I am reading right now the issue between Alfonso Martinez, Albert and Liezl Martinez’s son, and Wenn Deramas, TV and movie director. The issue stemmed from a tweet of Alfonso that went like this…

“I am sorry, but how the fcuk can a shallow, stupid and over milked movie win best director? Apparently to the magical MMFF grading system, the pinacle of Philippine cinema is a brainless, rehashed, slapstick movie that would be the laughing stock of any filmfest outside the Philippines, OH WAIT! I guess the movie is successful afterall!” – @fonzmartinez

He was referring to the Best Director award that Deramas got for his movie Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last Na ‘To!) which starred Ai-Ai delas Alas. The movie also won for Ai-Ai a Best Actress plum. Alfonso’s attack came from the fact that Albert didn’t even get a nomination for his period movie Rosario, which was purportedly the bet of most people to get top plums in the MMFF Awards night. Even the main star of the movie, Jennilyn Mercado, wasn’t nominated in the Best Actress category.

Alfonso had a point but his emotions got the better of him. Just consider this: Rosario was graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board. The movie got the 3rd best film in the MMFF Awards. If the movie got the top grade from the CEB and got 3rd best film, it just meant that the movie was good. How come the one who helmed it got snubbed in the Best Director race and the actress who gave life to Rosario snubbed as well? Baffles the mind, right? I believe that’s Alfonso’s point. His mistake was ranting about it and lashing out at the director who won over his dad and the movie Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last Na ‘To!).

Now, Deramas is the older one. He should know better than to react to a younger one’s tweet. He also won and in my opinion should just have been humble enough to ignore that tweet and move on. Anyway, he had the last laugh. The kid got bombarded with nasty comments left and right. But he answered Alfonso’s tweet on Facebook which went like this…

Hay. Patulan ba yung bata?!?

Deramas should have kept his mouth shut and just thanked the Lord for the blessings that came his way last December. There is no need to lash out at the kid because he should have known it was spoken at the heat of the moment. In short, asar talo kasi sila! Ano ba!

Liezl was said to have apologized to Deramas already and Alfonso deleted his tweet first and apparently already closed his Twitter account now.

Aging gracefully

Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts is seen here at the premiere of her movie Eat, Pray, Love. Don’t you think the lady is aging gracefully? She looks lovely more than ever! And the elegance she now exudes whenever she steps in front of the camera…

Can you blame her for still commanding so much dollars for a movie?

Emma and her pixie haircut

Emma Watson at Brown University

I am such a big fan of Emma Watson! I think the girl is a good role model in terms of giving importance to education over fame.

Here she is at Brown University with her new pixie haircut ;)

Don’t you just love her new haircut? I do like it although I know with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie part 1 coming up, liking the pixie cut will take some getting use to for die-hard fans.

The Chronicles of Narnia The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

Narnia

The Chronicles of Narnia The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I saw the trailer this afternoon and I was so excited by it!

After the Harry Potter series in 2011, it’s the only good enough series that we’ll be waiting for every year. I do hope they will continue with the other Narnia books. I can’t wait for this one! I almost screamed a little when Ben Barnes beautiful face was shown on screen!

The reason…

RPatz

The one and only reason why I watched New Moon after the horrible Twilight, and the reason why I will be watching Eclipse next week. I hope to feast my eyes on him again.

Rob Pattinson, my love! So dreamy and sexy and hot, hot, hot!

*wipes her drool

Karate Kid

Ralph Macchio attended the premiere of the remake of The Karate Kid, in which he starred alongside Pat Morita. The remake stars Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan.

And the people loved the remake! The movie debuted at No. 1 for the weekend with a whopping $56 million! That’s for US box office alone. What more if the international showings are accounted for? Here in Manila, the lines for the movie are ridiculously long! It was very fortunate that my sisters and I were able to catch the first screening on opening day. When we went out after the movie, there were so many people who lined up for the second screening they were already bumping into one another. It was that huge!

Congratulations to Jaden and Jackie! That son of Will and Jada will go a long way. What great acting he has shown! As for Jackie, it’s already given that he’s great.

Have you watched the movie yet?

Karate Kid 2010

Karate Kid 2010

The new Karate Kid starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan will be shown locally on Friday, June 11, 2010. I was a fan of the original Karate Kid starring Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita. So when I heard that a new version of the Karate Kid would be done by Will Smith‘s son, I really waited for it. I loved Jaden in The Pursuit of Happyness. He is such an adorable kid and a good actor growing in the mold of his dad’s acting calibre.

I will watch the movie on Friday. I will update you on how it is so stay tuned.

The Lovely Bones

the-lovely-bones

Posters of the movie The Lovely Bones are plastered all over malls in the metro. It says the movie will open on March 17th. But it’s already the 20th and the movie has yet to open. There is not even a date for it as far as I know.

I am excited to watch this movie. I know the story and have read the book in college. Plus I have read some good reviews of it. I am just wondering when it will be shown here in the country. I can’t wait to see it!

Remember Me

remember-me-poster

Remember Me starring Robert Pattinson will be shown today in local theatres. It also stars Emilie de Ravin (of the Lost fame) and Pierce Brosnan.

remember-me

I will watch the movie for the simple reason that it stars Rob Pattinson and I would spend a day (or weeks and months) drooling over his gorgeousness!

remember-me-still

Pierce Brosnan is a perfect dad to him. Both uber gorgeous men!

Will you watch?

Manny and Krista

So much have been said about the Manny Pacquiao-Krista Ranillo love affair. Truth be told, I do believe there’s something going on. How do you define the “coincidences” that took place. First, in HongKong. Then, in the plane going back to Manila. Those times in Baguio (with photos). Krista with her dad, actor Matt Ranillo III. And then the relief missions. Lastly, the Las Vegas scenes. Could be a promo for their upcoming movie, Wapakman? I doubt it! That’s going to extremes. Plus, why would Jinkee Pacquiao, Manny’s wife, even drop the name of the starlet if there’s nothing going on, right?

My take on this is: Krista’s a starlet who saw the opportunity for a few minutes on the spotlight took it and did her best to “befriend” the popular boxer. Manny, on the other hand, can’t distinguish what’s real and reel (probably from too many punches to the head). He grabbed the opportunity to show off his machismo and accepted Krista’s “friendship”.

And then all hell broke loose! Hahahaha

Changes to Twilight (if I would be given a chance)!

If I could change things in the Twilight movie saga, I would! Here are a few things I would like changed:

  • Get a new Bella Swan! Kristen Stewart looks so awkward and lame-faced all the time! And she always manages to look unhappy with her Twilight gig. The ungrateful loser!
  • Get a better-looking Rosalie Hale. Nicki Reed is NOT the ethereal beauty that we learned to hate then love in the Twilight saga books. Please!
  • Get a better-looking, taller, and more muscled Jacob Black. Taylor Lautner is just not that. He’s good-looking enough, I guess. But get someone who can compete with Robert Pattinson’s on-screen charisma! Someone who we can believe is taller than the Edward Cullen we all love. And the one to whom he almost lost Bella to.
  • Get a better scriptwriter! Someone who will not change the story altogether! Remember the sequence where Bella is saying goodbye to Phoenix? WTF was that?!? And the diner sequences of Bella and her dad, Charlie? She’s supposed to be cooking for him! And what about Bella in her underwear? The lame scenes with Rosalie? The underexposure of our well-loved Alice? The comic scenes of Bella’s dad with Billy Black? The Eric Yorkie show on campus? The unnecessary scenes of the three villain vampires. Etc, etc, etc. Too many unnecessary scenes in the movie and the most important one was not even written well! Oh, I am talking about the meadow scene!
  • Get a better director! Catherine Hardwicke was obviously in love with Nicki Reed. She gave her the most number of scenes when in fact Alice should have played a major role in the movie. The execution of the scenes was blah!
  • Make Stephenie Meyer sign a contract wherein it states that the movie will stay true to the book. JK Rowling was able to do that with the Harry Potter movies. Why can’t she?

Want to add more to these???

Excited already?

I must admit this… When I saw a number of promotional materials and the poster, I still got excited over New Moon, the sequel to the Twilight movie. Aargh! I just hope with all my heart that Chris Weitz won’t mess with the book! Although come to think of it, New Moon is the least liked among the Twilight Saga books.

I am still excited to see Rob Pattinson aka Edward Cullen reprise his role. Still yummy! More than ever!!!

Movies I missed

I missed a lot of movies that I was eagerly awaiting the release of…

my-sisters-keeper-movie-poster

My Sister’s Keeper. I’ve always wanted to see this movie. Although I’ve read that the reviews were disappointing. Still, I wanted to watch it. Because the book is really great.

the_time_travelers_wife_movie_poster

The Time Traveler’s Wife is another movie I was eagerly awaiting but haven’t caught in the threatres. For some reason, I missed it. That time it was being shown locally, I was busy with some important matters.

Oh well, there’s DVDs anyway. I can still watch it when the DVDs will be released.
