I must admit this… When I saw a number of promotional materials and the poster, I still got excited over New Moon, the sequel to the Twilight movie. Aargh! I just hope with all my heart that Chris Weitz won’t mess with the book! Although come to think of it, New Moon is the least liked among the Twilight Saga books.
I am still excited to see Rob Pattinson aka Edward Cullen reprise his role. Still yummy! More than ever!!!
Can someone please tell me why Kristen Stewart looks like she’s being asked to swallow a pail of rotten nails when she’s being interviewed??? Doesn’t the ingrate know that without those interviews, people won’t look twice at her because it’s the men in the Twilight movie franchise the fans are interested in! She’s always looking like she’s being forced to go on interviews. She frowns a lot and looks like $#!t when she attends anything Twilight-related. Someone should give this girl a slap on the face to make her realize that if it weren’t for Twilight, she’ll still be a nobody in Hollywood!!!
I watched videos from the Comic Con 2009 and let me tell you, Ashley Greene was way better looking than this greasy-haired gal!

Of course, with the movie coming out in a few months from now, they will capitalize on it. Stephenie Meyer’s sequel to the bestseller Twilight, New Moon, now has a new cover.
It shows Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) locked in an embrace with the wolf, Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) while a copper-eyed Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) moons over them.
Sizzling cover!
I’m still Team Edward, though. No matter what they say about Taylor
Twilight hottie Robert Pattinson has confirmed to be presenting an award in this coming 81st Academy Awards. Yipee! Enough reason for me to wake up early (we’re 8 hours advance here, I believe) to watch the show.
Will it still be Taylor Lautner? Reports are surfacing that the role of Jacob Black is still up for grabs to whoever will be good looking enough to play the role. New Moon, the sequel to the monster movie hit Twilight, is focused more on the friendship that developed between Jacob Black and Bella Swan (to be reprised by Kristen Stewart). And Jacob in New Moon will grow by leaps and bounds more so when he starts becoming a werewolf. Taylor’s camp is releasing reports to the media that the 16-year-old actor has gained 19 lbs. since the end of filming of Twilight and will be gaining even more before the shoot of New Moon.
Personally, I feel a more mature actor should play the role. In the book, Jacob Black is taller than Edward Cullen and has started shooting up to 6 feet tall. In reality, Taylor is shorter than Rob Pattinson who plays (and will continue playing) Edward Cullen. If and when Taylor reprises the role of Jacob Black, I wonder how they will make it look that he’s a six footer.
Do you want Taylor Lautner to continue playing Jacob Black in New Moon?
I can’t express enough my disgust with this news. I mean, come on! Do we really want to embarass ourselves this way??? Getting the rights to remake the Twilight series in Tagalog???
Apparently, ABS CBN, one of the media giants here in the Philippines, had this brilliant idea (read: STUPID!) of buying the rights of Twilight from Ignite Media for more than $1 million. They can’t even remake local movies and series right and they would like to attempt something this big. WTF?!?!?!?
The local version of Twilight will be entitled Takipsilim (duh!) and it will star Rayver Cruz as Edward Cullen and Shaina Magdayao as Bella Swan. You know, when I read about this, I almost rolled on the floor laughing. Literally. What are they thinking??? And look at the poster for the series…
If you are a Filipino like me and you are also a die hard Twilight fan who also happens to be head over heels over Rob Pattinson, Rayver will come across as a joke to you! And Shaina as Bella? My disgust is a separate entity that you can see beside me right now!
And wait till you hear/read who will play in the supporting cast…
Gabby Concepcion as Carlisle Cullen
Luis Manzano as Emmett Cullen
Karylle as Rosalie Hale (Is she THAT beautiful???)
Joross Gamboa as Jasper Hale
Al Tantay as Charlie Swan (THIS had me laughing non stop!)
And some others I don’t really know.
Twilighters across the internet are up in arms over this news and they (that includes ME!) want this series stopped. Stephenie Meyer doesn’t come across as stupid or anything but WTF was she thinking letting this kind of thing happen? I guess the rights to Twilight is no longer with her but I do believe she can stop this one from happening.
Before I proceed, I should tell you that I am a Twihard (a Twilight fan through and through). I have read the four books (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn) several times already. And I went to the moviehouse with an open mind. Actually, I went to the moviehouse thinking I will be viewing a totally different story from the one in the book.
So okay, for the uninitiated, Twilight is written by Stephenie Meyer about a high school girl Isabella “Bella” Swan who came to Forks from Phoenix to live with her dad, Charlie, who is the Chief of Police in the always rainy and gloomy small town in the Olympic Peninsula. In a stroke of fate, she meets the Cullens, the mysterious family mostly avoided by people of Forks. She falls in love with one of them, Edward Cullen, who embodies a true blue perfect gentleman except that he’s a vampire. There goes the twist of the novel.
Now let’s go to the movie review…
The movie started out with the hunt. The Cullens are a different breed of vampires. They drink animal blood instead of human blood, “vegetarians” in their words. The first scene is great because we are given a feel of how a hunt happens. Then comes the next scene of Bella preparing to go to Forks, getting her cactus. So okay, let’s stop at this scene… WTF is the cactus for??? That’s a wasted scene! One of the many. I totally cannot get that scene. Really.
Now, Bella is picked up by Charlie, her dad. It’s supposed to be an awkward moment, Bella used to calling Charlie behind her back. But it was never shown that way. Or maybe because Kristen Stewart, the girl playing Bella, has the same expression in most scenes. Trying to look intense but failing to do so. And here’s something I also cannot get… how come Charlie is not reserved? He is supposed to be an awkward dad whereas the character in the movie is a jolly, funny type of dad. That’s okay with other stories but we are talking about Twilight here! Why change the character’s traits???
Okay so Charlie told Bella that he already got her a truck, an old, rustic, beat up Chevy that he got from Billy Black, an elder from the reservation La Push. Billy in my mind is somewhat an old Indian guy who looks a bit somber. Billy in the movie is irritatingly blase. Billy was there, together with the un-hunky Jacob Black (played by Taylor Lautner). They were all so chummy in the scene. That was actually not in the book. Another wasted scene for me. They could have stuck to the movie where Bella saw the truck the minute she sets foot in Charlie’s place.
Next scene is Bella going to school in his beat up Chevy truck. Students are in the parking lot. She meets students Jessica Stanley, Mike Newton, Angela Weber and Eric Yorkie. In the book, Bella was befriended by Jessica and she introduced her to everyone at lunch. Mike is an okay guy who is smitten with Bella. In the movie, Jessica and Mike are super noisy! Angela is not the shy, kind girl in the book. She is a super thin girl in the movie that seems insignificant in most scenes. Eric, on the other hand, is a squirrelly guy who can’t stop talking!
Scene is at lunch and the Cullens are making an appearance already. Emmett and Rosalie, Jasper and Alice came in. The impact was… duh?!? Then, of course, Edward (played by Rob Pattinson), came. The girls in the cinema hooted! I was one of them! Hahaha! He is wow! Except when you try to be objective, he looked like he was dipped in a bowl of flour.
Well, you obviously know by now how addicted I am to the Twilight saga and everything related to the books and the movie. So I can safely say I have read almost every press release about the movie, almost all the articles written about it and have views countless photos and videos related to the movie. I just noticed a few things that bother me:
The most glaring of the discrepancies between the upcoming movie (midnight!) and the book is that the character of Alice Cullen is not given that much importance in the upcoming movie! Have you noticed that when they introduce the cast of characters they often stop at Nikki Reed, the one playing Rosalie? Personally, I feel that of all the supporting characters, Alice is the most significant one. I just felt like they haven’t given that much importance to the character than they should. Ashley Greene is playing Alice Cullen in the movie.
The person they cast as Jacob Black doesn’t do him justice. Come on, compare Rob Pattinson and that guy playing Jacob. Then forget about the book. By looks alone, would you really still go for Team Jacob???
Kristen Stewart, the one playing Bella Swan, is always scowling and when she talks, she looks like she’s sarcastic all the time! I mean, seriously, it looks like she’s not happy about the movie at all!
People are expecting something big from the movie when we all know chances are, when the book is good, the movie will bomb one way or another. I am looking forward to the movie, overly excited about it in fact, but then I am realistic in my expectations. Since Summit Productions is a small movie outfit and they said the cost of the movie amounted to $34M only, I am opening my mind to the possibility that they might have not given it all. Actually, I have read the reviews already and the critics said that it was disappointing. I doubt it would be for a die hard (Twihard) fan like me! Just lessen your expectations of it and you will benefit from that open mind.
And please, Rob Pattinson as Edward Cullen is perfect! He is totally hot!

Check out the video below on how Rob Pattinson, Edward Cullen to Twilight fans like you and me, was greeted warmly by Mexicans. It was the same welcome people give to the Jonas Brothers wherever they go. So you really know now that he’s made it!
